About the Course
Maximize the potential of your practice with this course. Topics of importance in this course include the clinical indications along with contraindications for IV moderate sedation in the dental environment. Further emphasis on proper patient assessment in the preoperative phase to best evaluate patient suitability and proper patient selection for IV moderate sedation. The course will press the importance of patient assessment and patient evaluation in the operative and post-operative phases including assessment for discharge. Participants will learn to both identify and manage potential adverse reactions and events. Participants will also be taught the pharmacology of relevant medications along with risk-mitigating techniques. Technical airway management skills will be assessed clinically along with infection control and clinical decision-making/sedation management.

All clinical assessments must be graded at least as satisfactory for completion of course. The course will also have 2 multiple choice exams which must be graded at least 80% for completion of the course. One retake per exam is allowed.

Course Completion Certificate allowing participants to apply for RCDSO authorization for Moderate Parenteral Sedation.
